 Determined to Get His Life Back on Track
Frederick Miller came to Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina as a participant in the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP). Frederick, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was honorably discharged from duty in the late ‘60s. After the military, Frederick became a business owner operating several businesses in the Charleston area including an Ice Cream parlor and a Disco Club. Following a tragic accident, Frederick fell upon hard times and soon found himself alone, homeless and without hope.

 How Much I Like My Job
Jermayne has been employed with Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina since March 2000. Referred for work services from the Charleston County Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN), Jermayne was placed as a processor in the work enclave at the Rivers Avenue Goodwill retail store with five other individuals with disabilities. Jermayne’s duties were to sort through and hang articles of clothing. Jermayne was also tasked with the responsibility of making appropriate judgment of what items were appropriate for the sales floor.

 Determined to Achieve His Work Goals
Derrick Sturgill was referred to Goodwill Industries through Berkeley Citizens, a provider of support and services to individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs in Berkeley County.
